Window Dressing

Every window has its own unique requirements: Light, airflow, privacy, temperature, functionality, space and location are some of the factors to consider when dressing a window.

We measure and advise taking into consideration the various factors to ideally meet your needs.

Curtains

Traditionally curtains are panels cut to size to cover a window and are floor length. They are made of lighter softer fabrics tending to be more sheer, and are the most common type of window dressing. They can be lined or unlined, fully blocking out light or allowing some light in.

Drapes

Drapes are more formal in appearance and function than curtains. They tend to be heavier than curtains, and are made of rich heavy and somewhat stiff fabrics like velvet, damask, and silk and are solid or textured rather than patterned. Drapes are generally lined and can be floor length or puddle softly on the floor.

Sheers

Sheers are a soft more whimsical window dressing made of fine light weave fabrics like cotton, chiffon, silk, polyester and voile. They are semi-transparent and flimsy and can either be used alone or paired with curtains, drapes or blinds to soften the look. Sheers add a magical touch to your home.

Roman Blinds

Roman blinds provide an elegant softness to your decor. They are flat pieces of material that are generally lined and the fabric draws up into pleats that stack on each other. They can be used on their own or pared with drapes, curtains or sheers.

Best for: All rooms especially small spaces

Light blocking: Moderate to total

Venetian Blinds

Venetian Blinds consist of horizontal slats stacked and connected, held up by cords that raise, lower and tilt the blinds to block out or allow in light at different angles. The slats can be raised and lowered to cover the window or just tilted to give privacy.

Roller Blinds

A Roller blind is a single piece of fabric which wraps around a casing and fits into the top of your window frame, either within or outside. It can be enclosed in a cassette or exposed and can roll down in front (waterfall) or at the back of the casing.

Best for: All rooms
Common materials: Vinyl, Weaves
Light blocking: Moderate to total.

Zebra/Day Night Blinds

Zebra or Day Night blinds provide an elegant minimalist appearance and are ideal for smaller areas and windows. They are flat pieces of material that roll over each other moving the transparent and solid horizontal stripes over each other to allow in light or give you total privacy.

Best for: All rooms especially small spaces

Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds provide an elegant minimalist appearance and are suitable to most windows especially over glass and sliding doors. They are flat pieces of material suspended from a rail and can adjust to give you total privacy or be opened to allow in light and can be pulled away from the window completely.
